Anaïs

The series of paintings called “Rasters” is devoted to women writers; on the paintings, I wrote out just their first names, countless times. “Tess” (Gallagher), “Anaïs” (Nin), “Sylvia” (Plath) and “Ivana” (Brlić Mažuranić) are done in a perpendicular or more or less perpendicular grid, in a fine lacy structure. I connect this tireless repetition of names up with the formula of American writer Gertrude Stein: a rose is a rose is a rose.
