The Duchamp wheel from some disassembled bicycle is the conditional logo of freedom with which Marcel Duchamp opened up a new chapter in the history of art. The wheel stands for moving, in which it is function that is important (rotating and moving), and not the means (bike, car, vehicle).
Alongside the drawn wheel, I add the word PISMO/LETTER, which suggests communicational mobility, i.e., the circulation of written messages or items of information.
“Bicycle Wheel” (M. Duchamp) initiated in me a perpetuating procedure: extracted from the author’s context, the energy of the wheel is transformed into my “Invitation 2”; the invitation is modified into a poster from which I draw the inspiration for this work (and also for the drawing “Perpetuum mobile”). Both of them appear as reproductions in the catalogues of my exhibitions; then, as auto-recycled material, I incorporate them into some other, kinetically treated, works (see the series “Air Show”).
